Many international nurses ask about H-1B first. For typical bedside RN roles, H-1B is often not the best primary strategy because specialty occupation and wage-level realities can work against entry-level clinical positions.
When H-1B may be stronger
- Advanced practice roles such as NP, CRNA, or CNS
- Specialized clinical, informatics, or research roles
- Cap-exempt academic or research-affiliated employers
What not to assume
- H-1B approval is not guaranteed even with a sponsor
- A job posting mentioning sponsorship may still be a weak fit
- Bedside RN and new-grad profiles often need a different primary path
